Oil Coolers

When building a high output supercharged engine that will see daily use in hot Texas weather, oil cooling becomes very important to the life of the engine.

I decided to mount two competition aluminum oil coolers in series and regulate them with a bypass thermostat. The oil coolers and 180F thermostat are built by PermaCool and the sandwich adaptor is built by Moroso.

The custom oil cooler ducts are fabricated from MDF half oval rings, polyester fleece cloth, and fiberglass.

This system adds an additional 12 feet of pluming to the oil system and I decided to use Russell brand ProFlex hose and Endura 10AN fittings.

With a VDO oil temp sender before and after the oil coolers I can see a significant drop in oil temperature and the thermostat keeps the temp from falling too low.

The oil pump is a Moroso blueprinted, high volume, standard pressure pump with ARP shaft and baffled / trap door pan.
